Jah Cure 'Desiring' For His Freedom

 Reggae music artist Jah Cure is expected to return to court today as his trial for attempted murder begins.

"We do not have any updates. The case is still pending on March 8, "information officer Franklin Wattimena informed us via e-mail.

Jah Cure, whose name is Siccaturie Alcock, is facing a felony charge of conspiracy to commit felony criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit felony criminal mischief.

The event involved event host Nicardo 'Papa' Blake on October 1 in Dam Square, downtown Amsterdam, where the singer of The Longing For was put on display. He has since found a lawyer but could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Jan-Hein Kuijpers, Dutch lawyer representing Jah Cure, had said he would file a defense case on behalf of his Jamaican client.


"Mr Alcock is awaiting trial because he wants to clear his name ... Mr Alcock testified in detail about what happened, and for him it was a matter of self-defense," Kuijpers said. "Witnesses should be interrogated."

"At the same time, he is trying to do better ... He is a strong man," he added.

Cure had previously faced the law, including illegal possession of a weapon, rape and aggravated robbery, in which he was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison in 1999. He became a prison inmate and was released early. in 2007 after serving eight years.

Jah Cure is known for songs including
Longing For, Call On Me, and Unconditional Love.
