Denroy Morgan, Reggae Veteran and Father of Morgan Heritage, has died at the age of 76

Veteran Reggae singer Denroy Morgan has died. He passed away last night at his home in Lawrenceville, Georgia at the age of 76 after a long battle with cancer.

Singer Mojo Morgan confirmed the death of his father via social media.

Information from the Morgan Heritage family read, “It is with sincere love that we share that our beloved father and father of the nation, His Excellency Bishop Ras Denroy Morgan has been taken away. Father has been our light, our source of love and happiness for the rest of our lives. ”

"Our family thanks you in advance for your great love and support and we ask for your continued prayers as we go through this process. We also ask that you respect our privacy during this time of healing. Thank you!" they added.

A godly patriarch, Denroy Morgan is survived by his widow Hyacinth Morgan, 30 children, 104 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

The Reggae singer made a firm decision to nurture her children's potential in music. It paid off and his children formed several groups including the Grammy-winning root and culture band, Morgan Heritage, made up of his children Peter “Peetah” Morgan, Una Morgan, Roy “Gramps” Morgan, Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan. by Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo ”Morgan.

His children Noshayah Morgan, Otiyah "Laza" Morgan and Miriam Morgan also formed the Dancehall / Hip-Hop LMS.

Morgan left Jamaica in 1965 at the age of 19 and traveled to the United States to become a musician. He was part of the formation of the Black Eagles, a New York City reggae band in the 1970s, before launching a successful solo career in the 1980s onwards.

In 1981, Morgan's song I'll Do Anything For You was a hit song from his album of the same name.

"I'll do Anything For You '' gave me a name in the American music industry," he told South Florida News last year. Written and produced by Bert Reid - an American of Jamaican origin - the song ranked 9th on the Billboard R & B / Hip-Hop charts.

Another highlight of the work was his RCA album, called Make My Day. His biggest success in reggae came three years after he was signed by RCA Records in 1982. Through that collaboration, he released a major reggae album Make My Day. He also made history by becoming the first reggae artist to be signed by RCA Records.

He continued to sing reggae for many years, and in March 2014, he announced that he was working on a new album, called Half N Half, featuring cover versions of Bob Marley's songs and parts of Haile Selassie's lectures. In 2017, Denroy Morgan received the Key to Brooklyn, New York City.
