Atlantic Record Record Tai'Aysha featured rapper Saweetie in his debut single, One Night Ting, which includes some of the songs and instruments from Shabba Ranks' Ting-A-ling (1992). The song was released today.
Ting-A-ling was the first song on Shabba Ranks' X-Tra Naked album, which won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 1993. This song, which provided a sample of Bunny Wailer's Back To School (1982) , itself has been featured in more than a dozen songs including Shabba (2013) by A $ AP Ferg and A $ AP Rocky, Wednesday Night Interlude (2015) by Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Name Ring Bells (2021) by Those.
Produced by Jamaican Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor (Drake, Burna Boy, John Legend), Tai’Aysha and Saweetie’s One Night Ting begins with different samples of Steelie and Cleevie Gigi riddim. Tai’Aysha, a former playboy model, told PEOPLE Magazine that the dancehall bop is "about despair, self-loathing, and nightmares."
The 23-year-old, however, admitted that she had never been in a one-night relationship. "I have tried, but they come to my house the next day or send me flowers," he said.
One Night Ting music video produced by Miami-based filmmaker Shiri Fauer (Kodak Black) & Bruno Breil (Meek Mill, Lil Baby, Dj Khaled) and directed by Cameron Dean (Jason Derulo). It takes place near an undisclosed coral reef and highlights events in the dancehall hall organized by Antoine Troupe (Prince, Chris Brown, Kehlani, Drake)
