Snoop Dogg becomes the owner of Death Row Records After 3 Decades from Signing with the Label

About 30 years after he joined the Death Row Records label as a young artist, Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., took the initiative to buy the company, which was previously owned by Blackstone MNRK Music Group.

The news was reported Wednesday by Business Wire which said Snoop had bought the company.

 As a young artist, he joined Death Row in 1993, where he released his debut, highly acclaimed album 'Doggystyle'. Sadfa, returns to Death Row as he prepares to launch his upcoming album, ‘B.O.D.R.’ today February 11th.

Speaking about the move, Snoop Dogg getting the label is a big step for the culture.

"I am thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to discover the famous and important cultural record of Death Row Records, which has a tremendous value that has not been used in the future," the rap icon said. "It feels good to own a label that I was a part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is a very important moment for me," Snoop's statement began.

 "I would like to personally thank the teams of Blackstone, MNRK, and especially David Kestnbaum, who worked with me for several months to make this exciting coming home a reality. I look forward to building the next chapter of Death Row Records," the rapper concluded.

Death Row Records was founded by Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, The D.O.C., and Dick Griffey and hold a major role in the history of rap music as it produced some of the biggest West Coast rappers in hip-hop history.

Snoop is one of the famous rapper artists who adorned the label with his presence.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

At the same time, that's not the only chess action that Snoop Dogg does. He is also preparing to release his next album on the blockchain which gives fans the opportunity to own one of his own songs.

According to Variety, he is partnering with Gala Games to release 'B.O.D.R' as a "unique NFTs hideout box" before the album is dropped on streaming services.

Snoop Dogg talked about bringing together new technologies and music.

"If anything goes on, it's just that the music industry will change all the time," Snoop said. "Blockchain technology has the potential to change everything again and propose a table for artists and fans."
