Sean Paul 'Like Glue' has been awarded Gold in the UK

Like Glue, a 2001 song by Dancehall star singer Sean Paul, has now been approved as a gold standard in the UK,

According to the British Voice Industry (BPI), Like Glue was presented today (February 18) with the BRIT Certified Gold Award, after selling more than 400,000 copies in the UK, as assessed by Official Chart Company.

Produced by Tony "CD" Kelly on the Buy Out riddim, Like Glue was re-released as the third song from Paul's Triple Platinum album selling Dutty Rock (2002), which brought him his first Grammy Award. It ranked 13th in the US Billboard Hot 100, No. 3 on the UK Non-Aligned People Chart, and gained international success as the top 10 songs in Switzerland, Italy, Canada and Ireland.

Citing the example of a dance like Glue, Paul said in one of the interviews earlier this month — that although some of his great songs did not fit into the hard Dancehall brackets, they were still real Dancehall.

"There are some great songs that have come out - some of my main songs [are] real dancehall. I mean it might not be the hardest, dancehall song you've ever heard and for a dancehall lover it could be the softest sound. Like Glue, which had a lot of songs more with that kind of stuff but it's a real dancehall, "he explained.

The music video, which was directed by Benny Boom, has now been viewed by more than 122 million people on YouTube.

Interestingly, Like Glue's lyrics were a prelude to Gimme the Light, which he expanded into a full song to create a song about sticking to his girlfriend "Like Glue" despite 'what people say.' Money 2 Burn. from their album My Crew, My Dawgs.

Like Glue was just one of several hit songs from Paul's highly acclaimed Dutty Rock collection.
Get Busy and Baby Boy along with Beyonce both ranked 1st in Hot 100 and number 2 on the UK Singles chart. Both songs have been approved as Platinum in the United States. In the UK, Get Busy has also been approved for Platinum, while Baby Boy has been approved for Gold.

Gimme the Light ranked 7th in Hot 100 and number 5 on the UK charts, and has been approved as Silver in the UK; while I'm Still In Love With You with Sasha finishing 14th in Hot 100 and No. 6 on the UK chart, and confirmed to be Silver in the UK.

Nowadays, Sean Paul is back on the road — he recently appeared at the CaliVibes Festival in Long Beach, California this month with artists such as Shaggy, The Marley Brothers (Ziggy, Damian, Stephen Ky-Mani, and Julian), Koffee, Protoje. and others.

The collection will include Ty Dollar $ ign, Swiss singer and songwriter Tove Lo, American singer Gwen Stefani, Australian pop star Sia, American rapper Nicky Jam and Jamaican Shenseea, Jada Kingdom, Stylo G, and Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley.

Without further ado at any time, Dancehall Legend said he has another project that has not been called by Island Records to work.

"We are already preparing for the next album now because we have two albums. We have been putting it together and we have a few in-depth songs," he revealed.
