An Iranian Instagram star who has been called a "corpse bride" because of her extensive investigation following surgery has now been arrested. |
News from Tasnim said the activist, who goes with Sahar Tabar on Instagram but is identified as Fatemeh Kh by the Iranian media, using the first character of his name in Farsi, is accused of promoting violence, illegal education, blasphemy, and blaspheming the Islamic veil . hatred and incitement to youth to commit corruption.
Tasnim reported that a complaint was filed against him to the prosecutor's office.
On Instagram - where his account hasn't been updated - Sahar Tabar regularly posted photos of himself. Many believe she made herself look like a zombie version of actress Angelina Jolie, with sun-kissed cheeks, a plump nose and huge pouty lips.
The BBC reported that Tabar was arrested by Iranian officials following a complaint against him.
He is being held on suspicion of blasphemy, incitement to violence, illegal possession of property, blasphemy of the country's clothing code and inciting youth to commit corruption, the British news agency said.
Tabar's Instagram page has 14,000 followers interested in its transformation. Sahar Tabar became a viral sensation in 2017, when several media published stories about him, claiming he underwent more than 50 cosmetic surgeries and only 40 kg (88 pounds).
In an interview with Russian news agency Sputnik, published in December 2017, he outlined many of the allegations made against him.
"It's Photoshop and makeup," she told Sputnik. "Every time I post a picture I make my face more enjoyable. It's my way of expressing myself, the art of the genre. My followers know that this is not my real face."
In the interview, he rejected reports that he was trying to look like Jolie, saying "I had no desire to be like Angelina Jolie, and I didn't want to be seen as a character from 'The Bride.' I understand that I'm like them, but I'm my own memory and I didn't want to look like anyone. That wasn't my goal. "
This July, an Australian couple was arrested, accused of taking illegal photographs with a drone. They are currently released.
Instagram is the only major social network that has not been banned in Iran. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the Telegraph have all been banned, according to Amnesty International.
